Josep Maria Bayarri facts for kids
Josep Maria Bayarri i Hurtado (1886–1970) was a famous writer and poet from Alboraya, Spain. He was also known as Xusep Maria Vaiarri. He wrote many works, especially poetry, and tried to help shape the Valencian language.
Early Life and Studies
Josep Maria Bayarri studied art at the San Carlos School of Fine Arts in Valencia. This education helped him develop his creative skills, which he later used in his writing.
A Career in Poetry
In 1915, Josep Maria Bayarri published his first book. It was a collection of Valencian poems called Poetes valencians contemporanis. This book featured poems by many writers from his time. He also helped start two poetry magazines. These magazines, El vers valencià (1934) and Ribalta (1939), were important for sharing new poems written in the Valencian language.
Ideas About Language
Throughout his life, Bayarri had strong ideas about how the Valencian language should be written. He tried to create new rules for the language. His ideas were based on a specific way of speaking Valencian called the Apitxat dialect. This was different from the standard way of writing Valencian. For example, in 1966, he published a book called Alfavetisasió dels valensians to explain his ideas. However, his attempts to change the language rules were not widely accepted.
Later Works
Josep Maria Bayarri continued to write until the end of his life. His last work was published in 1970, the same year he passed away. This final book was titled La qinteta epdomadaria.
