Joshua Curran (born 10 June 1999) is an Australian professional rugby league player. He plays as a forward, usually in the second-row or lock position, for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in the National Rugby League (NRL).

Before joining the Bulldogs, Josh also played for the Sydney Roosters and the New Zealand Warriors.

Early Life and Junior Career

Josh Curran was born in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. His family background includes both Indigenous Australian (from the Darug people) and Irish descent. He went to school at Patrician Brothers' College, Blacktown.

Josh started playing junior rugby league for local teams like the Merrylands Rams and the Hills District Bulls. Later, he played for the Parramatta junior teams, including the Harold Matthews and SG Ball squads. These teams help young players get ready for professional rugby league.

Professional Rugby League Career

Starting Out (2017-2018)

In 2017, Josh Curran joined the Sydney Roosters club. He played 28 games for their Under-20s team in 2017 and 2018. He also played nine games for the Roosters' feeder club, Wyong Roos, in a competition called the Intrust Super Premiership in 2018.

Joining the NRL (2019)

In 2019, Josh continued to play for the Sydney Roosters' feeder club, North Sydney, in the Canterbury Cup. He played nine games for them.

On 25 June 2019, it was announced that Josh would be moving to the New Zealand Warriors. Later that year, in Round 20 of the 2019 NRL season, Josh made his first big NRL game for the Sydney Roosters. He played against the Canberra Raiders.

Time with the Warriors (2020-2023)

Josh joined the New Zealand Warriors in 2020. He quickly became an important player for the team.

In Round 7 of the 2022 NRL season, Josh had to leave the field during a game against Melbourne. Scans later showed he had an MCL injury, which meant he couldn't play for a while. However, he worked hard and returned to the field two months later. In 2022, he played 18 games for the Warriors.

In the 2023 NRL season, Josh played 23 games for the New Zealand Warriors. The team had a great year, finishing 4th on the ladder and making it to the finals. Josh played in all three of their finals games, helping the team reach the preliminary final before they were knocked out by Brisbane. After the 2023 season, Josh decided to move back to Australia and signed a two-year deal with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.

Playing for the Bulldogs (2024)

In Round 1 of the 2024 NRL season, Josh Curran made his first game for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs. He played against their rivals, the Parramatta.

Josh played 24 games for Canterbury in the 2024 NRL season. The team finished 6th and made it to the finals. He played in their elimination final game against Manly. On 2 October, the Canterbury club announced that Josh had signed a new contract, meaning he will stay with the team until the end of 2027.
