Josiane Balasko (born Josiane Balašković on April 15, 1950) is a famous French actress, writer, and director. She is known for her work in comedy and has won two César Awards, which are like the French version of the Oscars.

Josiane Balasko is one of France's most loved actresses. She has been nominated for seven César Awards and has won twice. She is talented in acting, writing screenplays, and directing movies.
One of her most famous films is French Twist (original title: Gazon maudit) from 1995. In this comedy, she plays a woman who becomes friends with a married couple, leading to many funny situations. She won a César Award for writing the movie's screenplay. She was also nominated for Best Director for the same film.
Early Career and Rise to Fame
Balasko started her acting career in 1973. Her career took off in 1977 when she appeared in seven movies in just one year. She acted in the hit comedy Animal, which was one of the most popular movies in France that year.
She also became famous for being part of a comedy group called Le Splendid. With her friends from this group, she starred in the very popular comedy film Les Bronzés (which means "The Tanned Ones") in 1978. The movie was about a group of friends on a beach vacation. It was a huge hit, and they made a sequel called Les Bronzés font du ski ("The Tanned Ones Go Skiing") a year later.
Becoming a Director
In the 1980s, Balasko continued to star in many successful comedies. She acted in the cult classic Le Père Noël est une ... in 1982.
In 1985, she directed her first movie, a comedy called Sac de noeuds. She also wrote the script and starred in the film. This showed that she was not just a great actress but also a talented director and writer.
Continued Success
Throughout her career, Balasko has played many different kinds of roles. In 2006, she reunited with her friends from Le Splendid for the movie Les Bronzés 3: Amis pour la vie ("The Tanned Ones 3: Friends for Life"). It was a huge box office success in France.

Personal Life
From 1974 to 1981, Josiane Balasko's partner was actor Bruno Moynot.
Later, she married the sculptor Philippe Berry. They had a daughter, Marilou Berry, who is also an actress, and an adopted son, Rudy. Josiane and Philippe separated in 1999.
In 2003, she married American actor George Aguilar. They met on the set of the movie The Frenchman's Son in 1999.
