Josiane Kartheiser (born November 28, 1950) is a well-known writer from Luxembourg. She is a journalist, writes novels, and creates many other types of stories. She mostly writes in German, but also in Luxembourgish, her home country's language.

About Josiane Kartheiser
Josiane Kartheiser was born in Differdange, Luxembourg. She finished her studies at the Lycée des jeunes filles in Luxembourg City. From 1971 to 1974, she studied English and American literature. She attended the University of Kent in Canterbury, England.
After her studies, Josiane worked as a journalist. She also taught Luxembourgish at Sheffield University and at Luxembourg's Centre de langues. She retired from teaching in 2010. Josiane used her language skills to help create a special dictionary. It was called Parler luxembourgeois – Esou schwätze mir – Living Luxembourgish. She has also written regularly for several newspapers in Luxembourg. These include Lëtzebuerger Journal, Tageblatt, and Le Jeudi.
Since 1978, Josiane Kartheiser has published many different kinds of writings. She has written short stories, essays, and poetry. She has also written plays, book reviews, and even crime stories. Plus, she has written books especially for children.
Awards and Recognition
In July 2010, Josiane Kartheiser received a special honor. The City of Luxembourg gave her the Anne Beffort Prize. This award recognized her important contributions to Luxembourg's literature for over 25 years. At that time, writing was often dominated by men. The prize also showed how much Josiane cared about supporting women in Luxembourg society.
