José Carlos Mainer Baqué (born in 1944) is a famous Spanish expert on books and writing. He is a literary historian and critic, which means he studies the history of literature and shares his ideas about it.

Life and Career

José Carlos Mainer was born in Zaragoza, Spain, in 1944. He went to college at the University of Barcelona, where he earned a PhD in Philosophy and Arts. A PhD is the highest university degree a person can get.

In 1971, he wrote a groundbreaking book called Falange and literatura. This book explored the connection between Spanish writers and a political group from Spain's past.

Teaching at Universities

Mainer had a long career as a university professor. He taught students at several major universities in Spain:
