José Manuel Pérez Tornero (born in 1954) is a Spanish researcher and journalist. He is a professor of journalism at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). He is known for his work in communication and education. He also served as the leader of RTVE, Spain's public broadcasting company.

Early Life and Education
José Manuel Pérez Tornero was born in Almería, Spain, in 1954. He studied Hispanic Philology, which is the study of Spanish language and literature. He also earned a PhD in Communication Sciences. This means he has a high level of education in how people communicate.
Career in Television
Mr. Pérez Tornero created an educational TV show called La aventura del saber. This show helps people learn new things through television. It shows his interest in using media for education.
Leading RTVE
In February 2021, José Manuel Pérez Tornero was chosen as a candidate to lead RTVE. This is Spain's main public broadcasting company. He was selected after an agreement between two major political parties in Spain: the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party and the People's Party.
On March 26, 2021, he became the chairman of the company. He was voted into this role by the Congress of Deputies, which is like Spain's parliament. He worked with other members on the administration board of RTVE. He resigned from his position on September 26, 2022.
