Early Career
Juan Carlos Calabró began his career in the early 1960s. He started on radio with a show called "Farandulandia". In 1962, he moved to television with the popular comedy show "Telecómicos". During this time, he also started acting in plays, including "Extraña Pareja" by Neil Simon, in famous Buenos Aires theaters.
TV Success and Famous Characters
In 1978, Calabró got his own TV show called "Calabromas". This show became a huge comedy hit in Argentina during the 1980s. He created many memorable characters for "Calabromas". Some of his most famous characters were Johny Tolengo, "Gran Valor", and the kind "Aníbal (el pelotazo en contra)".
In the 1990s, he created another very successful TV character called "El Contra". This character would interact with many famous stars of the time. "El Contra" was known for making people a bit annoyed by pointing out their contradictions in a funny way.
