Don Juan Fernández Pacheco (born December 20, 1563, in Escalona, Spain – died May 5, 1615, in Escalona, Spain) was an important Spanish nobleman. He held several high titles, including the 5th Duke of Escalona, 5th Marquis of Villena, and 5th Count of Xiquena. From 1607 to 1610, he served as the viceroy of Sicily, which meant he was the king's representative ruling that region.

Juan Fernández Pacheco was the son of Don Francisco Pacheco, who was the 4th Duke of Escalona. His mother was Juana Alvarez de Toledo.

In 1589, he was honored by becoming a knight in the Order of the Golden Fleece. This was a very prestigious award. Later, he worked as the Spanish ambassador in Rome from 1603 to 1606. After that, he became the viceroy of Sicily, a powerful position, from 1607 to 1610.

Family Life

Juan Fernández Pacheco married Serafina de Bragança in 1594. She was the daughter of John I, 6th Duke of Braganza. They had ten children together, and seven of them grew up to be adults.
