Juan Roco Campofrío was an important leader in the Catholic Church in Spain. He lived from 1565 to 1635. He served as a Bishop in several cities, including Coria, Badajoz, and Zamora.
Life of Juan Roco Campofrío
Juan Roco Campofrío was born in Alcántara, a town in Spain. He became a priest in a religious group called the Order of Saint Benedict.
In 1625, he was chosen to be the Bishop of Zamora. This appointment happened when Pope Urban VIII was the leader of the Catholic Church. A bishop is a high-ranking priest who oversees a specific area.
Later that same year, on June 29, 1625, he officially became a bishop. This special ceremony is called a consecration. Giulio Cesare Sacchetti, who was the Bishop of Gravina, led the ceremony.
In 1627, Pope Urban VIII appointed him again. This time, Juan Roco Campofrío became the Bishop of Badajoz, another city in Spain.
His final appointment came in 1632. He was named the Bishop of Coria. He continued to serve as the Bishop of Coria until he passed away on September 16, 1635.
