Juan de la Corte was an important Spanish painter who lived a long time ago. He was born around 1590 in a city called Antwerp, which is in a region known as Flanders. Today, Flanders is part of Belgium. Juan de la Corte had family roots in Flanders, which is why he is sometimes called a painter of "Flemish origin."
He learned how to paint from famous artists, including the very well-known Diego Velázquez. Velázquez was one of the most important painters in Spanish history.
What Kind of Art Did He Make?
Juan de la Corte painted many different kinds of pictures. He was especially good at:

Many of his paintings can still be seen today in famous places. For example, several of his artworks are kept in the Buen Retiro Palace in Madrid, Spain. Juan de la Corte lived and worked in Madrid for most of his life and passed away there in 1660.
