Jubilee Country Park is a wonderful public park located in Petts Wood, within the London Borough of Bromley. It covers about 62 acres (which is roughly the size of 47 football fields!). This park is not just any green space; it's a special place for nature.

It was bought by Bromley Council to celebrate a big event: the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in 1977. A "Silver Jubilee" is a special celebration for a monarch's 25th year on the throne. The park officially opened its gates to the public in 1981.

Discovering Jubilee Country Park

Jubilee Country Park is known as a Local Nature Reserve. This means it's a place where nature is protected and people can enjoy it. It's also recognized as a "Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation." This means it's a very important area for wildlife in the wider London region.

A Special Place for Nature

The park is a key part of a larger "wildlife corridor." Think of a wildlife corridor like a natural highway for animals and plants. It connects Jubilee Country Park with other green areas like Petts Wood and Scadbury Park. This helps animals move safely between different habitats.

A famous walking trail called the London Loop also passes right through the park. This trail lets people explore many beautiful green spaces around London.

Plants and Animals You Might See

Jubilee Country Park has large areas of open grassland and very old woodlands. These different habitats are home to many interesting species.

In the grasslands, you can find a lot of a special plant called the corkyfruit water dropwort. This plant is quite rare, so it's exciting to see it thriving here! In the woodlands, you'll notice many midland hawthorn trees. These trees are very common and add to the beauty of the forest.

How to Visit

You can easily get into Jubilee Country Park from several different places. There are entrances located on Southborough Lane, Blackbrook Lane, and Tent Peg Lane. It's a great spot for a walk, a picnic, or just to enjoy nature.
