Judy Youngblood was born in 1948 in El Paso, Texas. She is an American artist known for her unique paintings. Judy Youngblood often creates art inspired by weather, like storms or sunny days.
She also makes "mixed media" art. This means she uses different materials together. Her art can include paintings, drawings, and special kinds of prints. These prints are called etchings and relief prints.
About Judy Youngblood's Journey
Judy Youngblood studied art at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She also spent time at a famous art studio in Paris called Atelier 17. This studio was well-known for printmaking.
Later, she became a teacher herself. Judy Youngblood taught both printmaking and book arts at the University of North Texas in Denton.
Awards and Exhibitions
Judy Youngblood received a special honor called a MacDowell Fellowship. She got this award in 1982 and again in 1985. This fellowship allows artists time and space to create new work.
Her art has been shown in many places. It has been part of over 300 group art shows. These shows are often "invitational," meaning artists are asked to join. They can also be "juried," where experts choose the best artworks.
Judy Youngblood has also had her own art shows. She had two "solo shows" at William Campbell Contemporary Art in Fort Worth. These were called "Changing Weather" in 2014 and "Unsettled Conditions" in 2019.
