His wife and business partner, Élise L'Heureux, was also a well-known photographer. Together, they made a great team.
One of their six children, their son Jules-Ernest (born in 1851), followed in his parents' footsteps. He became a photographer too! Jules-Ernest, often called Jules-Ernest Livernois, traveled all over Quebec. He took beautiful landscape photos and pictures of groups of people outdoors.
In 1989, Jules-Ernest was honored in a special way. He was one of four 19th-century Canadian photographers to get his own postage stamp. This stamp was part of the Canadian Photography series. It celebrated 150 years since the very first photograph was taken in Canada. This shows how important the Livernois family was to Canadian photography!
