Jules Charles Victurnien de Noailles, the 7th Duke of Noailles, was a French nobleman. He was born in Paris on October 12, 1826. He became a Duke in 1885 and was an important figure in French society.
Early Life and Family
Jules de Noailles was born into a very old and respected French family. His father was Paul de Noailles, 6th Duke of Noailles. His mother was Alice de Rochechouart-Mortemart. She was the daughter of the 8th Duke of Mortemart.
Jules had a younger brother named Emmanuel Henri Victurnien de Noailles. Emmanuel became a diplomat. This means he worked for the French government in other countries. He served as an envoy to the United States. He was also an ambassador to Italy, the Ottoman Empire (which is now mostly Turkey), and Germany.
Becoming a Duke
When his father passed away in 1885, Jules inherited his title. He became the 7th Duke of Noailles. This meant he held a very important noble rank in France.
His Family Life
Jules de Noailles married Clotilde Caroline Antoinette de La Ferté-Meun Molé de Champlâtreux. She was the daughter of Count Hubert de La Ferté-Meun.
Together, Jules and Clotilde had two sons:
- Adrien Maurice Victurnien Mathieu de Noailles (1869–1953). He later married Yolande Louise Marie Valentine d'Albert de Luynes. Her father was the 9th Duke of Luynes.
- Count Mathieu Fernand Frédéric Pascal de Noailles. He married a famous writer named Princess Anna Elisabeth Bibesco-Bassaraba de Brancovan.
Jules de Noailles passed away in Paris on March 6, 1895. His son, Adrien de Noailles, then became the next Duke.
