What Julie Anne Robinson Does
Julie Anne Robinson started her career directing TV shows in the UK. Later, she came to the US and directed an episode of the popular show Grey's Anatomy. This was her first directing job in the United States.
Directing TV Shows
She has directed many well-known TV series. These include Bridgerton, Nurse Jackie, Orange Is the New Black, and Grace and Frankie. She also worked on Castle Rock, Parks and Recreation, and The Good Place.
Julie Anne has directed the very first episodes (called "pilots") for twelve different TV shows in the US. Seven of these shows were picked up to become full series! She also helped create and produce The Catch with famous producer Shonda Rhimes. In 2023, she directed two episodes of the new Doctor Who series: “Space Babies” and “Boom”. She was also an executive producer for these episodes.
Directing Movies
Besides TV, Julie Anne has directed two feature films. These movies are One for the Money (from 2012) and The Last Song (from 2010).
Starting Production Companies
Julie Anne Robinson also started her own production company in the United States, called CannyLads Productions. She also helped start another company in the UK, called Longboat Pictures. She co-founded this company with Victoria Fea, who used to be in charge of drama shows at ITV.
