Julie Christmas's Musical Journey
Julie Christmas spent most of the 2000s as the lead singer for the band Made Out of Babies. This band played a style of music called noise rock. She also sang for Battle of Mice, a band that included musicians from groups like Neurosis.
Early Bands and Albums
With Made Out of Babies, Julie sang on three studio albums. These were Trophy (2005), Coward (2006), and The Ruiner (2008). The band stopped playing together in 2012.
Battle of Mice released one studio album with Julie, called A Day of Nights (2006). They also released a few smaller recordings before the band broke up in 2009.
Solo Music and Collaborations
In 2008, Julie Christmas sang on a song called "Generation of Ghosts" for the band Mouth of the Architect. This song was on their album Quietly.
Julie also worked with a project called Spylacopa. This group was started by John LaMacchia, a guitarist from the band Candiria. Spylacopa released an album in 2015.
Julie Christmas released her first solo album, The Bad Wife, in late 2010. She said that her solo music allowed her to explore different feelings. She wanted to sing about emotions like love, not just anger. Critics really liked The Bad Wife when it came out. One reviewer called it "one of the best albums to come out this year."
In 2012, Julie sang on the album From Beyond Love by Strings of Consciousness. She also appeared on the band Pigs' album Wronger in 2015.
Working with Cult of Luna
Julie Christmas was a special guest on the entire album Mariner by the Swedish band Cult of Luna. This album came out on April 8, 2016. Mariner is a concept album, which means all the songs are connected by a theme. The album explores ideas about outer space.
