Julie Pinel was a talented French musician who lived a long time ago, from about 1710 to 1737. She was a composer, meaning she wrote music. She also taught people how to play the harpsichord. The harpsichord is an old musical instrument, a bit like a piano.

Julie came from a family of musicians who worked for the royal court in France. Not much is known about her life. But we do know she dedicated her music collection to a special person. This person was the "Prince of Soubize," likely Charles de Rohan. He was a patron, someone who supported her family's music.

Julie Pinel published a collection of 31 songs in 1737. The collection was called Nouveau receuil d'airs sérioux et à boire. This means "New collection of serious and drinking songs."
