Julio Jiménez Muñoz (born October 28, 1934 – died June 8, 2022) was a professional road racing cyclist from Spain. He was known for being an amazing climber on his bike.

Julio Jiménez's Cycling Career

Julio Jiménez was famous for being a climbing specialist. This means he was really good at riding his bike up steep hills and mountains. He won the special King of the Mountains title six times in big races called Grand Tours.

One of his most famous wins was in the 1964 Tour de France. He won Stage 20, which included a tough climb up the Puy de Dome. He finished ahead of other great riders like Federico Bahamontes and Raymond Poulidor.

In 1965, Julio achieved something very special. He became one of only a few riders to win the mountains competition in both the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España in the same year. This is known as the Tour/Vuelta double for the mountains title.
