Jump Station is a small place in Floyd County, Kentucky. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that don't have their own local government, like a city or town does. Instead, it's part of the larger county.
The Story of Jump Station
Jump Station has an interesting past. A post office was opened there in 1927. It was simply called "Jump." This post office helped people send and receive mail for many years. It stayed open until 1953.
The community got its name from a person named Mr. Jump. He was a businessperson who worked in the local mining industry. Many years ago, mining was a very important job in this area.
