Jun Kokubo was born in Gunma Prefecture, Japan, on September 8, 1980. From a young age, he showed a great love for playing football. He spent his youth developing his skills and passion for the sport.
Starting His Professional Career
After finishing his studies at Tokai University, Jun Kokubo began his professional football journey. In August 1999, he joined Montedio Yamagata. This club had just moved up to the J2 League, which is a professional football league in Japan.
Jun Kokubo quickly became an important player for Montedio Yamagata. He played in many matches as a midfielder during his first season. He stayed with the club for several years, playing in many games and helping his team.
Moving to Local Clubs
In 2004, Jun Kokubo moved to Thespa Kusatsu. This club was special to him because it was located in his home area of Gunma. At that time, Thespa Kusatsu was playing in the Japan Football League, which is another professional league in Japan.
He continued to play in many matches for Thespa Kusatsu. Thanks to his strong performances and the team's efforts, the club achieved a big goal. In 2005, Thespa Kusatsu was promoted to the J2 League, moving up to a higher level of competition.
Later Career and Retirement
In 2006, Jun Kokubo joined Tonan SC Gunma. This club played in the Japanese Prefectural Leagues, which are lower-level football leagues in Japan. The club later changed its name to Tonan Maebashi.
He played for Tonan Maebashi until the end of the 2008 season. After that, he decided to retire from professional football. Throughout his entire career, Jun Kokubo played in over 130 professional matches, showing great dedication to the sport.
