Jungo Kono (河野 淳吾, born July 9, 1982) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a defender.
Playing Career
Jungo Kono was born in Yugawara, Kanagawa, Japan. He was born on July 9, 1982. After finishing high school at Shimizu Commercial High School, he started his professional football career.
In 2001, he joined Sanfrecce Hiroshima. This team plays in the J1 League, which is Japan's top football league. He played two matches as a substitute defender in the 2002 J.League Cup. However, he didn't play many other games for this club.
In June 2003, Jungo Kono moved to Yokohama FC. This team was in the J2 League, the second division. He quickly became a regular player. He played as a "center back," which is a defender who plays in the middle of the field. Even though he played fewer games in 2004, he still appeared in many matches for Yokohama FC.
In 2006, he moved to Mito HollyHock. Here, he continued to play as a regular center back. He was an important part of their defense.
His next team was Tokushima Vortis, which he joined in 2007. He started as a regular center back there too. Sadly, he got an injury in June and couldn't play for the rest of the year. In 2008, he played in only two matches as a substitute. Jungo Kono decided to retire from football at the end of the 2008 season.
