How Justin's Began
Justin Gold started the company in 2004. He graduated from Dickinson College in 2000. Justin studied environmental topics there. In 2002, he moved to Colorado.
Justin was a vegetarian and loved being outdoors. He started making his own nut butters. This helped him get enough protein for his adventures. His roommates kept eating his creations. So, Justin decided to sell them.
He first sold his nut butters at the Boulder Farmers' Market. Soon, Whole Foods Market agreed to sell his products. Justin got money from friends and family to start. He named the company "Justin's" after the labels he used.
New Products and Growth
In 2006, Justin's launched portable squeeze packs. They were the first nut butter brand to offer these small packs. Since then, Justin's has added more products. They now have organic dark, milk, and white chocolate peanut butter cups.
They also offer other spreads. These include chocolate hazelnut butter and maple almond butter. In 2011, Progressive Grocer magazine praised their peanut butter cups. They called them one of the best new products of the year.
