Justin V. Parish, born on August 27, 1980, is an American politician. He served as a representative in the Alaska House of Representatives for one term. Justin Parish has Tlingit heritage, which is a Native Alaskan group. When he first became a representative in 2017, he introduced himself in the Tlingit language. He shared that his grandmother was part of the Dog Salmon clan, showing his connection to his Native roots.
Political Career
Becoming a Representative
Justin Parish was chosen by voters to join the Alaska House of Representatives in 2017. He won against Cathy Muñoz, who was already holding that position. This election took place in 2016.
Not Seeking Re-election
Later, Justin Parish decided not to run for re-election. Instead, he supported Rob Edwardson, who worked as his main assistant. Rob Edwardson was also a local leader in Juneau, Alaska. Justin Parish wanted Rob Edwardson to take his place in the House.
The Next Election
However, in the 2018 general election, another person from his political party, Andi Story, won the seat. Justin Parish represented a specific area in Alaska called the thirty-fourth district. This district included parts of Juneau, like the Mendenhall Valley, Auke Bay, an area known as Out the road, and the Airport areas.
