Jutta Bauer facts for kids
Jutta Bauer (born January 9, 1955) is a German writer and illustrator. She creates wonderful books for children. In 2010, she received the Hans Christian Andersen Medal. About Jutta Bauer
Jutta Bauer was born in Volksdorf, a part of Hamburg, Germany. She studied at the Technical College of Design in Hamburg. This was from 1975 to 1981. After her studies, she started working. She became a children's book illustrator. She also drew cartoons for a women's magazine called Brigitte.
Jutta Bauer has won several awards for her work. In 2001, she won the Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis. This is a big German award for youth literature. She won it for her picture book Schreimutter. She wrote and illustrated this book herself. In 2002, her book Opas Engel was a runner-up for the same award. She also received a special prize for her illustrations in 2009.
The Hans Christian Andersen Award is given every two years. The International Board on Books for Young People presents it. It is the highest honor for a children's book writer or illustrator. Jutta Bauer received the illustration award in 2010. This shows how important her work is. She lives in Hamburg today.
