Jutta Kleinschmidt (born August 29, 1962) is a famous German racing driver. She is known for her amazing skills in off-road car races. She made history by winning the tough Dakar Rally in 2001. She was the first woman ever to win this race as a driver. She is also the only German person to win the car category of the Dakar Rally. In 2013, she was honored as an FIM Legend for her achievements in motorcycle racing too.
About Jutta Kleinschmidt
Jutta was born in Cologne, Germany. She grew up in a town called Berchtesgaden in Upper Bavaria. She studied physics at a special school called Isny Polytech. After her studies, she worked for the car company BMW.
Jutta started her racing career on motorcycles. She raced in her first Paris-Dakar Rally in 1988 on a BMW motorcycle. This rally is a very long and difficult off-road race.
In 1994, Jutta decided to switch from motorcycles to cars for the rally. She quickly showed her talent. In 1997, she became the first woman to win a single stage of the Dakar Rally. A "stage" is one part of the race. The next year, she finished among the top drivers.
Her biggest achievement came in 2001. Jutta Kleinschmidt became the first woman to win the entire Dakar Rally. This was a huge moment in racing history! She proved that women could compete and win at the highest level in this challenging sport.
