K. S. Gopalakrishnan was a talented Indian filmmaker. He wrote, directed, and produced many movies. He also wrote songs for films. He worked on movies in Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi languages. From the early 1960s, he directed 70 films! Most of his movies told stories about society or had religious themes. His son, K. S. G. Venkatesh, is also an actor. He has appeared in TV shows and movies.

K. S. Gopalakrishnan's Journey in Films
K. S. Gopalakrishnan started his career in theater. He worked with a group called the Nawab's troupe for about 19 years. Later, he joined Sri Devi Nataka Sabha. Here, he wrote two successful plays. These plays were named "POST-MAN" and "THAMBI" (meaning younger brother). He also wrote "EZHUTHALAN" (meaning writer).
Sharing a Famous Name
K. S. Gopalakrishnan had the same name as an earlier director. This other director also worked in Tamil cinema. He was active in the 1940s and 1950s. People often got them confused. However, the earlier Gopalakrishnan did not have as much success in movies.

K. S. Gopalakrishnan passed away on November 14, 2015. He was 86 years old.
