Kaie Kellough's Creative Works
Kaie Kellough has written several books, including three poetry collections, one novel, and a collection of short stories. He has also released two audio recordings. Kellough is known for his unique "vocal sound poetry," where he uses his voice to create sounds and layers, exploring how language is made.
His Novel: Accordéon
His first novel, Accordéon, is written in an interesting way. It reads like a conversation where someone is being questioned by three agents from a "Ministry of Culture." This book was inspired by discussions in Quebec about a proposed "Charter of Values." Accordéon was nominated for the Amazon.ca First Novel Award. A reviewer from the Montreal Review of Books called it a "remarkable work" that celebrates the many different sides of Montreal.
His Poetry: Magnetic Equator
For a while, Kaie Kellough mostly focused on sound poetry instead of writing poems. However, after meeting another writer, Dionne Brand, at a festival in 2017, he started putting together the poems that would become his collection Magnetic Equator.
