Kaitlyn Michelle Ashmore (born on 8 November 1991) is a talented Australian rules footballer. She plays for the Hawthorn Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW) league. Before joining Hawthorn, Kaitlyn played for the Brisbane Lions and North Melbourne. She was one of the first players signed to the AFLW in 2016.

Kaitlyn's Early Football Journey
Kaitlyn Ashmore started playing football in Ballarat, Australia. In 2012, she became a representative for Vic Country in Australian rules football. That same year, she won the Pierre de Coubertin award. This award is given to outstanding athletes by the Victorian Olympic Council.
The next year, the Melbourne Football Club chose her. She played in the very first AFL-approved women's exhibition match against the Western Bulldogs. Melbourne selected her again in 2014.
Playing for the Western Bulldogs
After playing for Melbourne for two years, Kaitlyn was chosen by the Western Bulldogs. This happened in the 2015 women’s AFL draft. With the Bulldogs in 2015, she played in a special game. It was the first women's AFL game ever shown live on television!
While playing these early AFL exhibition games, Kaitlyn also played for Melbourne University. She was part of their premier division team in the Victorian Women’s Football League. In 2014, she also played for Federation University. Her team won a gold medal, and she was chosen for the All-Australian team at the Australian University Games.

Kaitlyn Ashmore has had an exciting career in the AFL Women's league. She has played for three different clubs.
Time with Brisbane
Kaitlyn was one of the first players signed by the Brisbane Lions in August 2016. This was before the very first AFL Women's season in 2017. To play for Brisbane, she had to move about 1,600 kilometers from Melbourne. At the end of the 2017 season, Kaitlyn was named in the 40-player All-Australian squad. This means she was one of the best players in the league. She signed with Brisbane again for the 2018 season.
Playing for North Melbourne
After two seasons with Brisbane, Kaitlyn joined the North Melbourne Football Club. North Melbourne entered the AFLW competition in 2019. She continued to play for them in 2020 and 2021. In the shorter 2020 season, she was the team's top goalkicker with 9 goals.
In 2021, Kaitlyn made history in Round 6. She became the first AFLW player to win 25 games. This happened even before any club reached that milestone!
Moving to Hawthorn
In June 2022, Kaitlyn Ashmore moved to the new expansion club, Hawthorn. She continues to play for them today.
Kaitlyn's Life Off the Field
Outside of football, Kaitlyn Ashmore is also a qualified teacher. She completed her teaching degree at Federation University. Currently, she works as a Primary School teacher in Melbourne.
