About Kampong Cham Province
Kampong Cham is an important part of Cambodia. It is known for its beautiful views and the mighty Mekong River that flows through it. The province has a long history, becoming an official province on January 1, 1885.
How the Province Changed
On December 31, 2013, Kampong Cham province was divided into two parts. This was done to create a new province. All the land west of the Mekong River stayed as Kampong Cham. The land on the east side of the river became a new province called Tboung Khmum Province.
