History of Kaplan Financial
Kaplan Financial used to be known as the Financial Training Company. Then, in February 2003, a company called Kaplan, Inc. bought it. After that, it was called FTC Kaplan. Kaplan, Inc. is a big company that provides education and training all over the world.
The Financial Training Company also made study books and practice tests. These materials helped students prepare for exams in accountancy. Other training schools also used these study materials. Now, Kaplan Publishing makes these materials. This is another company in the Kaplan group.
New Companies Join Kaplan
Over the last ten years, Kaplan Financial has grown by buying other companies. Here are some of the main ones:
- 2003—UK Accountancy Tuition Centres Ltd (ATC) joined. This company offered accountancy training in the UK.
- 2003—Emile Woolf Colleges Ltd. became part of Kaplan. They trained students for specific accountancy exams.
- 2003—AT Foulks Lynch Ltd. joined the group. This company published books for accountancy training.
- 2003—Portman College of Management was acquired. This school in Newcastle offered management training.
- 2008—Hawksmere Limited joined. This company in London provided training and conferences.

Awards and Recognition
In July 2009, Kaplan Financial received a special award. It was the first distance learning provider to get "Platinum status" from the ACCA. The ACCA is the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Platinum status is the highest award a training provider can get.
