Serigne Modou Kara Mbodji (born 22 November 1989), known as Kara or Kara Mbodji, is a professional footballer from Senegal. He played for the Senegal national team. Kara is a versatile player who can play as a defender or in the midfield.

Kara Mbodji's Club Journey
Starting in Senegal: Diambars Academy
Kara Mbodji began his football journey at a young age. When he was 15, he joined the Diambars academy in Dakar, Senegal. This academy helps young players develop their skills.
Playing in Norway: Tromsø IL
On 2 February 2010, Kara moved to Norway to play for Tromsø IL. He spent three seasons playing in the Norwegian Premier League. During his time there, he was recognized as the best player on his team. He was also named the second-best player in the entire league twice.
Moving to Belgium: KRC Genk
On 31 December 2012, Kara joined KRC Genk in Belgium. The club paid about €1.4 million for him. He quickly became a regular starter in their defense. Kara helped Genk win the 2012–13 Belgian Cup, which is a big achievement. Because of his great performance, his contract was extended until June 2018.
Joining R.S.C. Anderlecht
On 7 August 2015, Kara moved to another Belgian club, R.S.C. Anderlecht. This transfer cost €4.5 million. He signed a four-year contract that would last until June 2019. In August 2017, he signed another contract extension, keeping him at the club until 2020. During his time at Anderlecht, he played 97 games and scored 7 goals.
Short Loan to FC Nantes
On 30 August 2018, Kara went on loan to FC Nantes, a team in France's Ligue 1. A loan means a player plays for another team for a short time. Nantes also had the option to buy him permanently. However, his loan ended early in January 2019. Kara explained that he wasn't getting enough playing time.
Playing in Qatar: Al-Sailiya SC
On 20 July 2019, Al-Sailiya from Qatar signed Kara Mbodji. He joined them from Anderlecht and signed a contract for three seasons.

Representing Senegal at the Olympics
He was part of the Senegal under-23 team that played in the 2012 Olympic Games. This was a great opportunity to represent his country on a global stage.
Playing for the Senior National Team
Kara was also chosen for the Senegal national football team's squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. In this tournament, he scored a goal in a 1–1 draw against South Africa.
In June 2018, he was named in Senegal's 23-man squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Playing in the World Cup is one of the highest honors for a footballer.
