Karpe (previously known as Karpe Diem from 2000 to 2018) is a popular Norwegian rap group. It is made up of two talented artists: Magdi Omar Ytreeide Abdelmaguid and Chirag Rashmikant Patel. They both started making music in Oslo, Norway.

About the Members
Magdi Omar Ytreeide Abdelmaguid was born in Oslo on June 3, 1984. His father is from Egypt, and his mother is from Norway. Chirag Rashmikant Patel was born on July 20, 1984, in Lørenskog, Norway. His family came from India and Uganda. Chirag grew up in Oslo.
Magdi and Chirag first met in 1998. They were both studying at the Oslo Handelsgymnasium high school. They were also making music on their own. The two friends decided to form a duo in the year 2000.
Karpe's Musical Journey
Karpe has released five albums and four EPs (which are like mini-albums). They have also won many awards for their music. These include seven Spellemannprisen awards, which are very important music awards in Norway.
Early Success
Karpe's first release was an EP called Glasskår EP in 2004. It was very popular! The song "Glasskår" reached number 9 on the VG-lista chart. This is Norway's official music chart. The song stayed on the chart for six weeks and became certified Gold.
Their first full album was Rett fra hjertet, released in 2006. It reached number 10 on the VG-lista chart. The album sold 18,000 copies. Karpe was nominated for "Best Album" at the Spellemannprisen awards in 2006. They also won the Norwegian Alarmprisen award in 2007.
Growing Popularity
Their 2008 album, Fire Vegger, was even more successful. It sold over 30,000 copies. This album reached number 3 on the Norwegian Albums Chart.
Aldri solgt en løgn became their third and biggest album. It topped the Norwegian charts! This album helped them win the Spellemannprisen award for "Best Hip Hop album." Their song "Ruter" was named "Best hit of the year." They also won the Bendiksenprisen award and were recognized internationally. They were named "Best Norwegian Act" at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2010.
In 2012, Karpe won another Spellemannprisen award. This time it was in the Pop music category. The award was for their album Kors på halsen, Ti kniver i hjertet, Mor og Far i døden. In November 2013, Karpe received the P3 award. This was at the first music award show by the radio station P3 Gull in Oslo.
Heisann Montebello Project
In October 2015, Karpe started a new music project. It was called Heisann Montebello. They released nine songs over two years. Each song had its own amazing music video. For this project, they won two Spellemannprisen awards in 2016. They won for "Best Urban Act" and "Album of the Year." Their music video for "Den islamske elefanten" was also nominated.
