Kaseyville is a small, unincorporated community located in Macon County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. An unincorporated community is a place where people live together but it doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town would. Instead, it's usually managed by the county government.

What is an Unincorporated Community?

An unincorporated community is a group of homes and sometimes businesses that are not officially part of any city or town. This means they don't have their own mayor or city council. Instead, services like roads, police, and fire protection are often handled by the county government. People in these areas still live together and form a community, even without a formal city structure.

History of Kaseyville

Kaseyville got its name from an early resident named Singleton L. Kasey. He was the first postmaster in the area. A post office was a very important place back then. It was where people could send and receive letters and packages. The Kaseyville post office first opened in 1867. It served the community for many years. However, it eventually closed its doors in 1908. Even though the post office is gone, the name Kaseyville has remained.
