Kat's Early Life and Background
Kat Tolentino grew up in British Columbia, Canada, in a family that loved sports. She went to McMath Secondary School there. Later, she moved to the Philippines to study at Ateneo de Manila University.
Her brother, Vince, is also a well-known athlete. He played basketball for the Ateneo Blue Eagles men's basketball team. He also played professionally for the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in the Philippine Basketball Association.
Collegiate Volleyball Journey
Kat's journey in college volleyball was full of challenges. Before she even moved to the Philippines, she had already injured her left knee twice. These were serious injuries called ACL tears.
In 2015, just as she was about to play for the Ateneo Lady Eagles volleyball team, she injured her right knee during a game. This meant she needed surgery and many months of recovery.
Despite these setbacks, Kat worked hard to get back on the court. She became a key player for the Ateneo Lady Eagles. In UAAP Season 80, she was even a joint team captain.
Her final year of college volleyball, UAAP Season 82 volleyball tournaments, was cut short. This happened because of the COVID-19 pandemic. After this, she decided to become a professional volleyball player.
Professional Career Highlights
In 2021, Kat Tolentino officially joined the Choco Mucho Flying Titans. This team plays in the Premier Volleyball League, which is a top professional league in the Philippines.
She has faced some health challenges during her professional career. In 2024, she was unable to play for a while after losing hearing in her left ear. In 2025, she was sidelined again due to a ruptured appendix. Despite these challenges, she continues to be a dedicated player.
