Katarina Čas was born in Slovenj Gradec. This town was part of Yugoslavia when she was born. She is the daughter of Miran and Aleksandra Kas. She also has two half-siblings.

She attended Bežigrad Grammar School in Ljubljana. After that, she went to the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ljubljana. She earned a degree in communication and marketing.

Katarina Čas first appeared on television in 1988. This was in a commercial for a Slovenian soft drink called Cockta. In 1989, she acted in her first movie. It was a Slovenian youth film called Peklenski načrt, which means The Infernal Plan.

Later, she became a TV host. From 1997, she hosted a music show called Atlantis on Kanal A. Then, starting in 2005, she hosted another music show, Aritmija, on RTV Slovenija. She also announced Slovenia's votes in the Eurovision Song Contest in both 2005 and 2017.

Her international acting career began in 2011. She played Gabriella in the Irish movie The Guard. In 2013, she appeared in the movie The Wolf of Wall Street as Chantalle. She also played Sophie in the 2015 film Danny Collins, acting alongside the famous actor Al Pacino.
