Katherine Diamond (born April 9, 1954) is a famous American architect. An architect is someone who designs buildings. She was born in Chicago, USA. She studied in Israel and even served in the Israeli Air Force. Later, she came back to the United States.

Katherine Diamond went to college at the Technion in Israel. This is a well-known technology institute.

Career as an Architect

Katherine Diamond is a top design leader at HDR in Los Angeles, California. HDR is a big company that designs many different kinds of buildings. She has also worked at other well-known architecture firms like HMC, NBBJ, and RNL.

She helped start a company called Siegel, Sklarek and Diamond. She founded it with Norma Sklarek and Margot Siegel. This company was the biggest architecture firm owned by women at that time. It later became Siegel Diamond Architects.

From 1993 to 1994, Katherine Diamond made history. She was the first woman to be President of the American Institute of Architects in Los Angeles. This was a very important role. She was also president of the Association for Women in Architecture from 1985 to 1987. In 1996, she became a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA). This is a special honor for architects.

She also helped review designs for government projects. She taught design classes at the University of Southern California.
