Kathleen Finlay Horsman (1911–1999) was a talented British artist, potter, and teacher. She was born in London but spent most of her working life in Edinburgh, Scotland. She was also awarded an MBE, which is a special honor from the British King or Queen.

Kathleen Horsman was born in London in 1911. She went to Hornsey High School. After that, she studied art at two famous schools. From 1929 to 1933, she attended the Hornsey School of Art. Then, she went to the Royal College of Art until 1937. These schools helped her become a skilled artist.

Her Artistic Career

After finishing her studies, Kathleen started teaching. Her first job was as a pottery teacher. She taught at the Liverpool School of Art until 1942. Then, she moved to Edinburgh, Scotland. There, she became a senior lecturer at the Edinburgh College of Art. This was a very important job.

Even with her teaching duties, Kathleen kept creating her own art. She had a special studio in the West Bow area of Edinburgh. She made beautiful pottery and paintings. She showed her work in many art exhibitions. These included shows with the Society of Scottish Artists and the Royal Scottish Academy. She also exhibited with the Scottish Society of Women Artists and the Saltire Society.

Kathleen's art was known internationally too. She traveled to other countries to show her work and give talks. In the 1950s, she exhibited in New York, USA. Later, she also visited Peru. Her work was admired around the world.

Kathleen Horsman was recognized for her contributions to art. She received the MBE award. This honor is given to people who have made a big difference in their field.
