Katsuo Kanda (神田 勝夫, Kanda Katsuo, born 21 June 1966) is a former Japanese football player. He was known for playing as a defender and midfielder. Kanda played for several important clubs in Japan, including NKK, Cerezo Osaka, Yokohama F. Marinos, and Albirex Niigata. He also had the honor of playing for the Japan national team.

Katsuo Kanda's Club Journey
Early Football Days
Katsuo Kanda started his football journey in high school. He played for Niigata Technical High School and even competed in the All Japan High School Soccer Tournament. After high school, he continued to play football while studying at Tokyo University of Agriculture.
Playing for NKK
In 1989, after finishing university, Kanda joined NKK, a professional football club. He mostly played as a forward during his time there. In the 1993 season, he was the top scorer for his club, scoring 8 goals.
Moving to Cerezo Osaka
In 1994, Kanda moved to Cerezo Osaka. This was a big move for him. In his first year, he scored 5 goals in 30 games. He helped Cerezo Osaka get promoted to the J1 League, which is the highest football league in Japan. He stayed with Cerezo Osaka for four years, playing nearly 150 matches. During this time, he often played as a left back.
Returning Home to Albirex Niigata
In 2000, Katsuo Kanda joined Albirex Niigata, which was his hometown club. He played for them for four seasons. His last professional match was on October 19, 2003. Before he officially retired, a special match was held for him on July 27, 2003. This match, called a testimonial, took place at Niigata Stadium. Albirex Niigata played against the famous Boca Juniors team and won 2–1. After retiring, Kanda became the technical director for Albirex Niigata.
Katsuo Kanda's National Team Experience
In 1995, Katsuo Kanda was chosen to play for the Japan national team. He played in one friendly match against Ecuador on May 28, 1995. This was his only game for the national team.
