How Katy Got Its Name
The community of Katy was named after a famous railway line called the Missouri–Kansas–Texas Railroad, often simply known as the "Katy Railroad." This railway was very important for connecting different parts of the country, and many communities grew up along its tracks.
When Katy Had a Post Office
Katy once had its very own post office! It opened in 1894, which was a long time ago. People in the community could send and receive their mail right there. However, the post office didn't stay open forever. It closed down in 1908, after serving the community for about 14 years.
