Kazuyuki Toda (戸田 和幸, Toda Kazuyuki, born 30 December 1977) is a Japanese football manager and a former professional football player. He used to play as a midfielder or defender. Toda was also a key player for the Japanese national team until 2002.

Playing Career: A Football Journey
Kazuyuki Toda was born in Sagamihara, Japan, on December 30, 1977. After finishing high school, he started his professional football career in 1996. He joined a team called Shimizu S-Pulse.
Early Success at Shimizu S-Pulse
At Shimizu S-Pulse, Toda played many games as a left defender. His team won the 1999–2000 Asian Cup Winners' Cup in 2000. This was a big achievement for the club! In 2001, he changed his playing position to a defensive midfielder. This change helped his team win the 2001 Emperor's Cup, another important football trophy.
Playing in Europe
In 2003, Toda got a chance to play in England. He joined Tottenham Hotspur on a loan. A loan means he played for them for a short time before returning to his original team. He played four games for Tottenham. In 2004, he moved to the Netherlands to play for ADO Den Haag. He played 16 games there before returning to Shimizu S-Pulse in Japan.
Later Club Teams
After his time in Europe, Toda played for several other Japanese clubs. In 2005, he joined Tokyo Verdy. Then, from 2006 to 2008, he played for Sanfrecce Hiroshima. Later in 2008, he moved to JEF United Chiba. Towards the end of his playing career, he also played for teams like Gyeongnam in South Korea, Thespa Kusatsu, FC Machida Zelvia, and Warriors in Singapore. He stopped playing professional football at the end of the 2013 season.
International Career: Representing Japan
Kazuyuki Toda also played for Japan's national football teams at different age levels.
Youth National Teams
In 1993, when he was just 15, Toda was chosen for the Japan U17 national team. He played in the 1993 FIFA U-17 World Championship, playing in all four matches. In 1997, he was part of the Japan U20 national team for the 1997 FIFA World Youth Championship. He played every minute of all five games in that tournament.
Senior National Team
In February 2001, Toda was selected for the main Japan national team. His first game was on May 31, 2001, against Canada in the 2001 FIFA Confederations Cup. Japan did very well in this tournament, finishing in second place!
Toda continued to play for Japan regularly until the 2002 FIFA World Cup. At the 2002 World Cup, he played all four matches for Japan. He was a key defensive midfielder, often playing alongside another famous Japanese player, Junichi Inamoto. Overall, Toda played 20 games for Japan and scored 1 goal.
Managerial Career
After retiring as a player, Kazuyuki Toda became a football manager. On November 14, 2022, he was announced as the manager for SC Sagamihara, a club in Japan's J3 League. He managed the team for about a year and a half. In June 2024, he left the role.
