Kei Yamaguchi was born in Joyo, Japan, on June 11, 1983. He started his football career with the youth team of Nagoya Grampus Eight.
Playing for Nagoya Grampus
In 2002, Kei Yamaguchi joined the main team of Nagoya Grampus Eight. This team later became known simply as Nagoya Grampus. From his very first season, he played in many matches as a defensive midfielder. A defensive midfielder is a player who helps protect the team's goal. He became a regular player for the team in 2006. This means he was chosen to play in most games.
Moving to JEF United Chiba
In 2010, Kei Yamaguchi moved to another team called JEF United Chiba. He continued to play in many matches for them. However, after 2012, he started to play less often. He decided to retire from playing football at the end of the 2014 season.
Playing for Japan's National Team
In November 2003, Kei Yamaguchi was chosen to play for the Japan U-20 national team. This team is for players under 20 years old. He played in the 2003 World Youth Championship.
