The History of Keith, Georgia
The community of Keith was named after a man named Freeman L. Keith. He played an important role there. Mr. Keith was the very first "postmaster" for the area.
A postmaster is the person in charge of a post office. The post office in Keith first opened its doors in 1881. People living nearby could send and receive their mail there. The post office served the community for many years. However, it eventually closed down in 1907.
