Kellie Crawford's Career Journey
Early Steps in Entertainment
Kellie Lynn Hoggart was born in Sydney, Australia. She started her career in entertainment when she was a teenager. One of her first jobs was appearing in commercials for Pizza Hut.
In 1991, when Kellie was 17, she had an idea with two friends, Liza Witt and Roxanne Clarke. They wanted to bring back old music in a new pop style. They first tried to make a TV show about the 1960s. When the TV show idea was difficult, they decided to focus on just making music. They named their group The Teen Queens. From 1992 to 1993, The Teen Queens released three songs that made it into the top ten on the ARIA Charts, which lists popular songs in Australia.
After The Teen Queens group ended in 1993, Kellie continued acting. She appeared in more TV shows and movies, and also in commercials.
Joining the Hi-5 Group
Kellie's big break came in 1998 when she joined a new children's band and TV show called Hi-5. She was the oldest and most experienced member of the group. On the show, Kellie had a special puppet friend named "Chatterbox," or "Chats." Chats was first voiced by her fellow cast member, Charli Robinson.
Kellie and Chats had a part of the show called Word Play. In this section, they helped children learn about language skills. They taught kids about words, sounds, and noises in a fun way.
In October 2008, Kellie announced that she would be leaving Hi-5. She had been with the group for ten years. Another performer, Lauren Brant, took her place.
After Hi-5 and New Roles
After leaving the children's group Hi-5, Kellie wanted to work on projects for older audiences. She continued to advocate positive messages for all her fans.
In 2018, Kellie became a judge on a TV talent show called All Together Now on the Seven Network.
Since 2019, Kellie Crawford has been living in Melbourne, Australia. She works as a voice-over artist, which means she uses her voice for commercials or cartoons. She also acts in television shows.
In 2023, Kellie moved back to her hometown of Sydney. She continues to work as an actor and voice artist there.
Kellie's Personal Life
Kellie was born in Sydney and went to the Meriden School in Strathfield. She is the younger of two daughters. Her older sister, Kyllé, was an actress who played Roberta 'Robbie' Henderson in the ABC TV show The Ferals. Kellie's father, Dennis Hoggart, was a professional footballer. Kellie has mild dyslexia, which means she sometimes has difficulty with reading.
