Kelly Cartwright, born on April 22, 1989, is an amazing Australian athlete. She is known for her skills in both athletics and powerlifting. Kelly won two medals at the Paralympic Games in London in 2012. She also represented Australia at the Beijing Paralympics in 2008.

Kelly Cartwright's Early Life
Kelly Anne Cartwright was born in Geelong, Australia. When Kelly was fifteen, she had a type of cancer called synovial sarcoma. Because of this, part of her right leg needed to be removed. Chemotherapy was not an option for her treatment.
Kelly uses a special prosthetic leg. She started using it when she was in high school. Before her leg was removed, she enjoyed playing netball. In 2009, Kelly bravely climbed Mount Kilimanjaro.
Kelly's Work and Interests
In 2012, Kelly worked as a receptionist. She is also an ambassador for two important groups. These are the Australian Paralympic Committee and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. She helps these organizations by sharing her story and inspiring others.
Kelly also appeared on the fifteenth season of Dancing with the Stars. In 2016, Kelly and her partner, Ryan, became parents to a son.

Kelly Cartwright is a T42 classified runner. This means she competes in a specific category for athletes with certain physical impairments. Her coach is Tim Matthews. Competing in the Paralympics

In 2012, Kelly was the world champion in both the T42 100-meter race and the long jump events. At the 2012 London Paralympics, she won a gold medal. This was for the Women's Long Jump F42/44 event. She also won a silver medal in the Women's 100-meter T42 event.
Kelly Cartwright's Powerlifting Career
After the 2012 Paralympics, Kelly had a serious ankle injury. Because of this, she changed sports to para powerlifting. This is a sport where athletes lift weights. She competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. There, she came 7th in the lightweight event.

Kelly Cartwright was a finalist for the 2012 Australian Paralympian of the Year award. This award recognizes top Paralympic athletes. She was also given an Order of Australia Medal in 2014.
