Kelsey Elizabeth McJunkins (born May 12, 1991), known as Kelsey Lu, is an American singer and cellist. She is based in Los Angeles, California.

Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Kelsey Lu was born in Charlotte, North Carolina. She grew up in a family that followed the Jehovah's Witness faith. Both of her parents are musicians. Her father plays percussion, and her mother plays the piano. Kelsey Lu's father's family comes from Nigeria.
She started learning classical music when she was six years old. She learned to play the piano, violin, and cello. When she was 18, Kelsey Lu left her family home. She went to the University of North Carolina School of the Arts on a scholarship. After about a year, she decided to leave the school.
Music Career Highlights
Kelsey Lu recorded her first music collection, called Church, inside a church. This was in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Around that time, she also toured with the band Wet. She opened their shows for them.
She released her Church EP in 2016. Her first full album, Blood, came out in 2019. In the same year, she also released Blood Transfusion. This was a collection of new versions of songs from her Blood album. Kelsey Lu uses they/them pronouns.
