The Kelvin Hall International Sports Arena was a big sports place inside the Kelvin Hall building in Glasgow, Scotland. It was a popular spot for many athletics (track and field) events. Some of the major competitions held there included the 1990 European Athletics Indoor Championships and the Glasgow International Match, which started in 1988.

A Look Back: Kelvin Hall's Story
The Kelvin Hall building was finished in 1927. It's located in the west part of Glasgow, close to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.
At first, Kelvin Hall was used for huge exhibitions and shows. For example, it hosted industrial displays for the Festival of Britain in 1951. Over the years, it also held car shows and modern home exhibitions. A very famous event was the Kelvin Hall Circus! People in Glasgow loved seeing lions, tigers, and even elephants there for many years. Some people still remember the unique smell of the carnival after visiting the circus.
In 1988, a new sports arena was built inside Kelvin Hall. At the same time, the Museum of Transport also opened its doors there.
Kelvin Hall as a Sports Hub
After the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre opened in Glasgow, the Kelvin Hall building got a big update. It then became the home of the International Sports Arena.
This indoor sports arena was a busy place! It hosted many international athletics events. You could also watch boxing and badminton competitions there. The Kelvin Hall was even the home court for the Glasgow Rocks, a basketball team that plays in the British Basketball League. The Rocks played at Kelvin Hall from 2008 to 2012. Before that, they played at the Braehead Arena. After 2012, the team moved to the much larger Commonwealth Arena.
