Kenneth Joseph Marino (born December 19, 1968) is an American actor, comedian, director, and writer. He is known for his roles in many TV shows and movies. He was a cast member on MTV's The State. He also starred in popular shows like Party Down, Marry Me, Burning Love, and Childrens Hospital. You might also know him as Victor from the comedy film Wet Hot American Summer and its spin-offs.

Early Life and Comedy Beginnings

Marino was born on Long Island, New York. He grew up in an Italian-American family. He went to high school in West Islip, New York. Later, he studied acting at the Lee Strasberg Institute and Tisch School of the Arts at New York University in New York City.

On his first day at NYU, Ken Marino met David Wain and Craig Wedren. They quickly became good friends. The next year, Marino and Wain helped start a comedy group. This group was first called The New Group. It later became known as The State.

Ken Marino's Acting Career

After college, Ken Marino continued to work with The State. From 1993 to 1995, the whole comedy group had their own sketch comedy show on MTV called The State.

TV Shows and Recurring Roles

Marino has appeared in many TV shows. In 1997, he co-starred in Men Behaving Badly. He also had a recurring role as Professor Wilder on Dawson's Creek from 2001 to 2002. He appeared in several episodes of Charmed and Rock Me Baby.

He played the private detective Vinnie Van Lowe in four seasons of Veronica Mars. Marino also starred as Dr. Glenn Richie in the TV series Childrens Hospital. He played Captain 'CJ' Stentley on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. From 2009 to 2010, and again in 2023, he was a regular on the Starz series Party Down. He also played the Lehman brothers on the Showtime series Black Monday.

Guest Appearances and Other Projects

Ken Marino has made guest appearances on many popular shows. These include Will & Grace, Angel, Reno 911!, Grey's Anatomy, and Monk.

In 2013, he played Guy Young, a sports TV host, in season 4 of HBO's Eastbound & Down. He also voiced characters in animated shows like Axe Cop, Bob's Burgers, and Solar Opposites.

Directing and Writing Work

Marino is also a talented writer and director. He wrote the movie Diggers (2006). He also wrote and produced films like The Ten (2007), Role Models (2008), and Wanderlust (2012) with his friend David Wain.

He starred as Mark Orlando in the web series Burning Love. This show made fun of reality dating shows. His wife, Erica Oyama, created the series, and Ken Marino directed all three seasons. He has also directed episodes of sitcoms like The Goldbergs and Childrens Hospital.

Recent Roles

In 2017, Marino played Mr. Johnson in the Netflix comedy-horror movie The Babysitter. He returned for the sequel, The Babysitter: Killer Queen. From 2019 to 2023, he starred as music manager Streeter in the HBO comedy series The Other Two.

Personal Life

Ken Marino is married to screenwriter Erica Oyama. They got married in 2005 and have two children together.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Ken Marino has been the lead singer for a band called the Middle Aged Dad Jam Band. He started this band with his friend and fellow State member, David Wain.
