Growing Up in Houston
Kendrick Sampson grew up in Houston, Texas. His parents are Daphne Smith Sampson and Hoyle Sampson Sr. He is biracial. When he was a kid, Kendrick took music lessons. He became interested in acting at age 10 after seeing a commercial.
After finding an agent, Kendrick started taking acting classes. He performed in school plays while attending Elkins High School. Kendrick is a Christian.
His Acting Journey
Kendrick Sampson started his acting career in 2008. He appeared in two episodes of the TV show Greek. In 2010, he was in an episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
In 2013, Kendrick got a recurring role as Jesse in the fifth season of The Vampire Diaries. This show was very popular! In 2014, he played Dean Iverson in the miniseries Gracepoint. He also appeared in a music video for Hayley Kiyoko's song "This Side of Paradise."
A big role for Kendrick came in 2015. He played Caleb Hapstall in the second season of How to Get Away with Murder. This was a legal drama produced by Shonda Rhimes. From 2018 to 2021, Kendrick had another important role as Nathan Campbell on the HBO show Insecure. Kendrick has also started his own company called Sampson Studios.

Standing Up for What's Right
In May 2019, Kendrick started an organization called BLD PWR. This group helps to empower and bring change for groups of people who have been treated unfairly in American society.
After the Murder of George Floyd in 2020, Kendrick actively joined and helped organize Black Lives Matter protests in Los Angeles. He spoke out about his experiences during these protests. Kendrick also called for a one-day strike in Hollywood to protest against unfair treatment.
Helping His Community
In 2020, Kendrick worked with an organization called JusticeLA. They created a public service announcement called #SuingToSaveLives. This message was about keeping people healthy in Los Angeles County Jails during the COVID-19 pandemic.
