Kengo Kawamata (born October 14, 1989) is a Japanese football player. He plays as a striker for Azul Claro Numazu.

Kengo Kawamata's Football Journey
Starting His Career at Ehime FC
Kengo Kawamata began his football career in 2006. He joined Ehime FC as an apprentice professional. This means he was learning to be a pro player while still attending Komatsu High School. He played his first game in the J2 League against Mito HollyHock. In his next game, he helped his team by making an assist for Toshiya Tanaka.
Playing for Albirex Niigata
After finishing high school, Kengo joined Albirex Niigata. In 2010, he went to a Brazilian club called Catanduvense for half a year. He played 23 games in the 2011 season. He scored his first goal against Nagoya Grampus in the J.League Cup quarterfinals.
Loan to Fagiano Okayama
In 2012, Kengo was loaned to Fagiano Okayama for the whole season. He had a very successful time there. He scored 18 goals in 38 games. After this great season, he went back to Albirex Niigata. He continued to score many goals, getting 23 goals in 34 matches.
Moving to New Clubs
Because of his strong performance, Kengo moved to Nagoya Grampus in the middle of the 2014 season. Later, on November 29, 2016, he joined Júbilo Iwata. He then moved to JEF United Chiba on June 24, 2020. Since 2023, he has been playing for Azul Claro Numazu.
Playing for Japan's National Team
Kengo Kawamata also played for the Japanese national team. He played 9 games for his country between 2015 and 2018. He scored one goal for Japan.
Kengo's National Team Goal
- On March 31, 2015, Kengo scored his first goal for Japan. It was during a friendly game against Uzbekistan at Ajinomoto Stadium in Chōfu, Japan. Japan won the game 5-1.
