Kengo Kawamata (川又 堅碁, Kawamata Kengo, born 14 October 1989) is a Japanese football player. He plays as a striker for Azul Claro Numazu.

Kengo Kawamata's Football Journey
Kengo Kawamata started his football career in 2006. He joined Ehime FC as a young player while still in high school. He played his first game in the J2 League, which is one of Japan's professional football leagues. In one of his early matches, he even helped his team by setting up a goal for another player.
After finishing high school, Kengo joined Albirex Niigata. In 2010, he went to Brazil for a short time to play for a club called Catanduvense. This was a loan move, meaning he played for them temporarily.
When he came back to Japan, he scored his first goal for Albirex Niigata in 2011. It was during a big match in the J.League Cup quarterfinals.
Playing for Fagiano Okayama
In 2012, Kengo was loaned out again, this time to Fagiano Okayama for a whole season. He had a fantastic year there! He scored 18 goals in 38 games, showing everyone how good he was at scoring. After this successful loan, he returned to Albirex Niigata. He continued his great form, scoring 23 goals in 34 matches for them.
Moving to New Clubs
Because of his amazing goal-scoring, Kengo moved to Nagoya Grampus in 2014. He then joined Júbilo Iwata in 2016. Later, in 2020, he moved to JEF United Chiba. Currently, he plays for Azul Claro Numazu.
Playing for Japan
Kengo Kawamata has also played for the Japanese national team. He played 9 games for his country between 2015 and 2018. He scored one goal for Japan in a friendly match against Uzbekistan in 2015.

On April 22, 2024, Kengo Kawamata shared exciting news. He announced on his official website that he got married to actress and architect Michiko Tanaka.
