Carl-Henrik "Kenne" Fant (born January 1, 1923 – died May 29, 2016) was a talented Swedish actor, director, and writer. He was known for his work in films and for leading a major film company in Sweden.

Early Life

Kenne Fant was born in a town called Strängnäs in Sweden. His father was Captain Tore Fant, and his mother was Stina Fant. Kenne also had an older brother, George Fant, who was also an actor, director, and writer. His first cousin was Gunnar Fant, a famous speech scientist.

Career in Film

Kenne Fant studied acting at the Dramatens elevskola from 1945 to 1949. After his studies, he worked at the Royal Dramatic Theatre for a short time.

In 1952, he became a director at a company called Nordisk Tonefilm. He worked there until 1962. Then, he joined the Swedish Film Industry (SF), which was a big film company. He became the production manager in 1962 and was made the CEO (chief executive officer) of SF in 1963. This meant he was in charge of the whole company!

Kenne Fant decided to leave SF in 1980 to become a freelance writer. One of his films, Adventures of Nils Holgersson (made in 1962), was even shown at the 3rd Moscow International Film Festival.

In 1991, he wrote an important book about Alfred Nobel, the person who created the Nobel Prizes. Kenne's book included many details from Nobel's personal letters. In 2005, Kenne Fant was given an honorary doctorate degree from Uppsala University for his contributions to history and philosophy of science.

Monismanien Prize

In 1975, Kenne Fant started a special award called the Monismanien Prize. This prize is given to people who strongly support freedom of speech. Freedom of speech means that people should be able to express their ideas and opinions without fear.
